Athlete to Entrepreneur

Did you know...

Less than 2% of collegiate athletes actually go pro. Of those that do go pro or to the Olympics, most still have to (or want to) work after their athletic career. For all athletes, their focus has been so dedicated to their sport that they haven’t had time to explore different career fields, gotten work experience, had outside hobbies or interests, or thought about what they might want to do after sports. Many end up lost, unhappy and struggle to make a living.

This is where I come in...

I have been an entrepreneur my entire adult life as well as a competitive athlete.  I’ve started several businesses and was in the venture capital world for numerous years.  Having met other retired athletes throughout the years that have gone on to start businesses has solidified my belief that athletes make great entrepreneurs. My goal is to inform and educate athletes that taking the entrepreneurial route is not only a viable option, but that they already possess the most important elements that would help them succeed.  Things like discipline, goal oriented, willingness to work hard, coming back after setbacks and losses, studying their competition, sacrifice and much more… These are the traits of a successful entrepreneur that are very hard to teach.

I am working with individual athletes, universities and organizations developing programs, classes and coaching programs to help athletes explore and embark on the entrepreneurial journey.   To learn more and connect directly, please email me at kasten@yourstartuplife.com
