One, if not the best book I have read in the last 5 years is “Atomic Habits” by James Clear. His explanation on how to break bad unwanted habits and how to create habits you want makes so much sense and works better than any other method I have tried. I wanted to share with you a few of the main things I learned over the next few weeks. This week I am sharing “habit stacking”. I have found that this is the single easiest way to form a new habit. It works like this, take a habit that you already have and do on a regular basis like brushing your teeth, starting the coffee maker or taking a shower. Add the new habit onto at the end of finishing the previous habit. For instance, do 10 pushups after you brush your teeth, or stretch for 10 mins after you start the coffee. It is much easier to remember and just do whatever the task is when it coincides with something you are already doing. Hope that helps, I’ll have more tips from the book to share in two weeks.
What are some habits you already have that you could stack onto?
